Over three years ago, I started writing my first novel: The Manhattan Mishap. And guess what? It’s finally being published. Until I got a reminder on Facebook about writing it back in 2017, I had actually forgotten that it had been that long since I begun. It feels like yesterday. What they say is true… time flies when you’re having fun!
Okay, that was disgustingly cliché. But I’m serious. I’ve been writing like a maniac from morning to night and I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished. If you follow along with me on my personal Instagram, you probably know all about my writing journey up until this point. However, for those of you that don’t, I thought I’d share a few highlights here.
My début chick-lit novel, THE MANHATTAN MISHAP, is coming soon!

With The Manhattan Mishap, I decided to go down the self-publishing route. This means that I have way more control over the process than I would if I went the traditional route. Which, if I’m being honest, I tried to do at first. I sent my manuscript to more than 60 agents and publishing houses and was rejected by them all. All of them! Can you imagine? It was gut-wrenching. After all of that, I wanted to take things into my own fiercely capable paws. Now I get to make all the decisions about the look, layout, and have final say on edits.
On my portfolio site, I have blog posts up about all of the different steps and processes to go through when you’re self-publishing. For example, what happens when you complete your manuscript. Or what it’s like to design your cover and interior. I’ve also got a section up with potential about the book and author blurbs! It’s been a wild ride, but I’m loving it.

Currently, I’m working on four (!) other manuscripts that I’d love to have an agent for, but that’ll come with time. For now, I’m fiercely focused on editing and publishing my first women’s fiction novel. It still feels surreal that I wrote 85,000 words of juicy drama. It probably won’t feel real until I’m holding a physical copy. (Ps. I’m going to be selling signed copies on my personal website.)
I’m so excited for you to get your claws on a copy of The Manhattan Mishap! Don’t worry—I’ll keep you posted about pre-order dates and all of that. Are you looking forward to reading it? Let me know on social.
