I’m not embarrassed to admit that I’m twenty-nine years old and I wear orthopaedic animal print slippers. So what? The earlier you start taking care of your body, the better. Especially now with so many of us working from home and not wearing proper shoes on the regular. Plus, I have a standing desk, so I’m constantly on my feet. And that means, my feet crave the added support.
My Grammy and Great-Gramma told me horror stories about wearing high heels every single day and the pain that they felt in their feet as they got older. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about a fierce stiletto. But it’s definitely not an everyday thing. Or at least not anymore. Once upon a time, I was bad with my footwear. But it’s never too late to start treating your feet right! After all, they deserve it.
These animal print slippers are so fierce, you’ll hardly notice they’re orthopaedic.
Until you put them on. I’m not kidding—my life has literally improved since I started wearing them. And here are all of the reasons why.
Gemma Mule
These fuzzy mules—complete with a sassy tiger stripe—literally envelop your feet in comfort. Imagine yourself checking into a lavish spa, slipping on a terry-cloth robe, and placing your feet into a pair of plush slippers. That’s exactly the feeling I get when I wear the Gemma style. They feature podiatrist-designed “Orthaheel” technology that gives you all the support you need when running around your own apartment. Also, the flexible midsole is made to absorb shock to reduce stress on your joints. Even better? Their footbed is treated to be anti-bacterial and odour-resistant. Now that’s fierce.
Relax Slippers
Okay—first things first. Even Oprah loves these slippers. That’s right. She called them “cute and comfy” and I’d have to agree. While the weather has still been semi-nice out, I’ve been making the most of the open-toed Relax slippers. Like I said before, I’m on my feet almost all day. From standing at my desk, to cooking dinner, to practicing yoga, to tidying up around my home—I feel like I’m constantly on-the-go. These slippers are actually designed with an orthotic footbed and are meant to combat the fatigue your feet feel after walking around on hard, flat floors. It’s a win-win! Of course, they also feature the same anti-bacterial and odour-resistant qualities of the other pair.
Seriously. If you’re in need of a new pair of house shoes, look no further. Go for orthopaedic. You might think you sound like an old woman but your body will thank you. Trust me.
