Imagine turning over a century old and looking as fabulous as the day you were born. Can you? Well, it may not be possible for us, but for gorgeous, boutique-style hotels it’s a different story. As Hotel Victoria celebrates their 110th anniversary this year, they’ll blow out their candles knowing that they don’t look a day over—45? After all the check-ins, turn-downs and guests this hotel has been through, they deserve to have their cake and eat it too. As long as they save a slice for me and my insatiable sweet tooth.
There is a certain charm that Hotel Victoria possesses. And situated smack in the middle of downtown Toronto—just south of Melina Melinda Street—its location couldn’t be better either. The Staycation Details
From the quaint lobby, I waited for the vintage-inspired elevator to take me to my room. (There’s only one elevator, so be prepared to arrive upstairs fashionably late.) A short walk down the hall and I reached my front door. After taking in the modern décor, plush bed and eye-catching tiled bathroom, I got to snapping photos. Of course, my trusty tripod knows my best angles. The room was illuminated with natural light thanks to its floor-to-ceiling windows.
There is no room service at Hotel Victoria, so André and I ordered in Thai. A major perk for when you just want to stay inside and chill, is that their flat screen TVs come equipped with Netflix. We watched Always Be My Maybe and it was hilarious! Many belly-aching laughs were had atop the fluffy duvet, while wrapped in the hotel’s sumptuous robes.
Afterwards, we popped a bottle of champagne and toasted to the much-needed staycation in the 100-year old hotel. Did you know that Hotel Victoria was bought, sold, and renovated more than half a dozen times during its fierce history? Now that’s what I call a glow up.
