I am currently ferociously happy. Even though most of my photos don’t show it, I am. For some reason I tend not to smile as big on the outside as I am inside. Whatever. It’s weird. But finally I got a photo of me smiling big enough to really show off my inner feelings. Say cheese!
The older I get, the happier I become with my life. Is that a normal thing? Perhaps I’ve just learned how to find the good in things. Or my teenage mood swings have finally come to a halt. Whatever it is, I’m thankful for it. And although things aren’t exactly where I want them to be in life, instead of dwelling on what’s irritating me, I’m focusing on what’s bringing me happiness.
Here are 9 things that are making me ferociously happy right now.
9 Things Making Me Ferociously Happy Right Now

1. My upcoming trip
Although my trip is upcoming it’s still making me ferociously happy! I’m going back home to Victoria, British Columbia and I am so excited. It’ll be the first time I’ll see my sister since she moved back from Australia and we’ll be spending a week laying on the beach at our summer cabin.
2. Cowboy boots
The vintage cowboy boots I bought last winter are still going strong in my wardrobe. In fact, they’re my favourite pair of shoes I currently own. They’ve allowed me to start channeling my inner Western Woman and I’m going to start horseback riding again! I can’t wait.
3. Summer leopard prints
Leopard print in the summer roars extremely loud. From hoop earrings to hair scarves to bikinis and beach cover ups, there are so many ways to include spots in your look. I wrote a guide on how to wear all of the animal prints this summer, and I am religiously following it.
4. My thrifted outfits
There is something so satisfying about knowing that you’ve saved a piece of clothing from a landfill, you’re giving new life to someone’s toss out and on top of it all, you look amazing. As I’m writing this post I’m sitting here in a fabulous thrifted wrap dress that I scored for $8. Really need to work on my “get an outfit for less than a gourmet salad” post.
5. Kiana Ledé’s new album
If you haven’t listened to Kiana Ledé’s Myself EP, then go do it now! I’ve been listening to it on repeat since the day it came out. Every song is incredible. Also, she’s coming to Toronto in September for her first solo tour ever. Does anyone want to go? I’ll be there singing my heart out.
6. Cold brew coffee
Summer is the season of icy caffeinated drinks and my current fave is cold brew. In particular, the cold brew from Goldstruck Coffee in Yorkville, Toronto. It’s deliciously smooth and gives you just the right amount of buzz. Brb, I’m off to get one now.
7. Self love
Taking care of yourself is one of the most rewarding things you can do. I’ve been changing my thought process, improving my skincare routine, and taking more me time. After all, you know what they say: it’s impossible to make anyone else happy until you’re happy with yourself.
8. Stephen King novels
I’ve been on this horror-thriller binge lately. First, I read Pet Sematary by Stephen King and now I’ve moved onto The Shining. I’m sort of testing out whether I prefer reading the book first or seeing the movie. I watched The Shining first, then started the book but did the opposite with Pet Sematary. Honestly, I can’t tell yet which is better.
9. My relationship
If there is one thing that ultimately makes me ferociously happy, it’s my relationship. It’s funny because since I keep most of it offline, people often wonder if we’ve broken up. Or if I share something on my insta story that’s a bit emotional, I get messages asking if we’re okay. Remember: not everything you see on social media is the truth.
