Hello! Today is a very fabulous day. It’s my 28th birthday! So, in honour of this momentous occasion, I’m doing fierce flashback of my favourite looks, biggest achievements and best memories. It’s been one wildly fabulous year. And I think that I deserve to celebrate like a true queen.
I’m the type of person who loves my birthday. I love celebrating and I love turning a year older. I highly doubt I’ll ever turn into one of those women who refuses to admit her real age. After all, every year I get to live is a lesson, a blessing and a chance to live my fiercest life.
So, let’s pop this bottle of fierce flashbacks and celebrate.
A Fierce Flashback of My Wild Year

June
Oh, my favourite month of the year! Of course, I spent the majority of June celebrating myself. And thanking my mom for brining me to this world. I did a staycation with a few girlfriends at Novotel Toronto, I tried hair extensions for the first time ever and I also had the chance to spend a night at Hotel X with André.

August
I took a break from social media in July but was back in full force in August. After much consideration, I decided to look for a professional photographer to work with. You know, instead of just asking friends to snap photos. I started working with a few fierce women, who shot some seriously fire images for me this month. It’s always a good idea to support your fellow fierce females whenever you can!

September
After using this photo as the feature image for my shady influencer collab post, it’ll always be associated with that in my mind. I spilled the tea (or iced coffee, in this case) on some of the struggles that bloggers go through. It’s not all glam sponsorships & free goods! Anyway, that is definitely my fierce flashback for September.

October
One of the things I was so set on achieving before my 28th birthday was writing a book. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. However, I did start writing two books! They’re just not completed. I’ve got to stop making excuses and watching binge-worthy shows on Netflix and make this year the year that both books get written. Also, I want to be published in at least three more magazines this year—preferably print but I’ll accept digital too.

November
Sydney was obviously the highlight of November. It was the first time I’d been back to see my family in almost three years. Isn’t it wild how time just gets away from you like that? However, there was no way I’d miss my little sister’s wedding! I also introduced André to my family there. (Finally.)

December
One of my goals from last year that I’m carrying over with me for life, is to buy less but choose well. The outfit I’m wearing above is almost entirely thrifted—except for the turtleneck and boots! You can find incredible pieces at thrift stores if you’re willing to look. Not only will you have a fire outfit that no one else has, but you’ll be saving clothes from landfills. After all, one woman’s last season Calvin Klein jeans are your new favourite pair.

January
I wanted to start the year off on an empowering, female-focused note. So, I wrote a post about what makes fierce women feel like their best selves while wearing leopard print. It was so inspiring to chat with five independent women about their confidence and outlook on life. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: surround yourself with fierceness and you’ll become even fiercer yourself.

March
The fierce flashback of March one thousand percent goes to mine & André’s trip to New York City. It was our second time together—once last year for Tribeca and this year for his 30th birthday. We are totally New York people. Can’t wait to go back. Also, I celebrated my five year anniversary in Toronto this month too! Can’t believe how long it’s been already.

April
Two things that were on my birthday bucket list last year were to curate a champagne collection and party on rooftops. Well, while I didn’t exactly curate a collection—there is literally no room at my apartment right now—I did consume my fair share. Any excuse to celebrate, and I’m popping open a bottle and clinking flutes with the people I love. As for rooftops, I could use more.

May
As my birthday year came to an end, I started to feel really good about where my life was heading. I’ve been working on positive thinking, manifestation, goal setting—the whole shebang. It can truly work wonders for how you get up and get going each morning. I was chatting about this with a friend: imagine if you had a vacation mindset in your regular, daily life. Not in terms of not doing any work (lol) but more about feeling blissful, happy, worry-free and totally content. Wouldn’t life be amazing?

June
And here we are, back to June. I’m currently sitting at my desk sipping an iced caramel macchiato, wearing a dress I thrifted for $8, and contemplating my year ahead. After all, this is my true fresh start. This year I want to: write a book, be published in three magazines, travel to a new city, love with my whole heart, laugh as often as I can, read at least 25 novels, throw a wildcat fundraiser, shop wisely, save for a down payment, maintain my health and be wildly happy and undeniably fierce.
