When it comes to feminism & fashion, two of the fiercest things you can wear are the colour red and leopard prints. So it only makes sense to wear them together. Yes, you’ll create the most ferocious statement you possibly can, but isn’t that what being a fearless woman is all about? Wearing red with leopard prints is a total power move.
Long gone are the days when wearing red lipstick was a sign of promiscuity. (Can you even believe that was an actual thing? Crazy.) Today, wearing—and even the simple act of applying—red lipstick is empowering. It draws eyes to you, commands attention and exudes a certain sophistication that other colours like pink or orange just don’t have.
And the same goes for red garments. Or in my case, red boots. Red is a colour of fiery passion. It exudes danger, adventure, love and whatever else you need to channel to feel like your most compelling self. While at one point in time (ages ago, thankfully) wearing red or red lipstick put women at risk of being punished, it now gives us the self-esteem to take on men, our careers and, essentially, the world.
After all, you are what you wear.
So, what about leopard prints? Well, first of all they are the most spotted trend of the season. Have you tried shopping for them lately? They’re literally everywhere. Also, leopard prints are a major confidence booster. Not to mention wearing them encourages primal instincts, so be ready to be fierce when you’ve got ’em on.
Every stylish woman from Kate Moss to Giovanna Battaglia loves leopard prints. It’s had an extremely fierce history, too. Leopard prints were once used to show power or wealth and have since become one of fashion’s most loved and recognized patterns, appearing everywhere from Vogue to Forever 21. However, while in the wild leopards are printed to stay camouflaged and out of sight, power women today sport spots to stand out. Leopard prints demand an audience—and a roar-worthy one at that.
