Known as one of the most romantic cities in Canada, Victoria has enough charm to last a lifetime. However, if you’re only going on a weekend trip to Victoria, you still have plenty of opportunity to taste some of that romance. And I do, quite literally, mean taste it. There are so many restaurants to eat at and delicious meals to be had. Yum!
However, there are also many sights to see, things to do and people to meet! Well, if you want to meet new people that is. We’re very friendly in Victoria! That’s where I learned most of my charm. (Just kidding. Sort of.) So, here are my favourite things to do on a weekend trip to Victoria, B.C.
3 Things to Do On a Weekend Trip to Victoria

Dine & drink to your heart’s content
Number one on my list of places not to miss for a hot beverage & dessert on a weekend trip to Victoria is Murchie’s Tea & Coffee on Government Street. Next up, I can’t miss lunch or dinner at Paggliaci’s Restaurant. In my taste-worthy opinion, it’s the best Italian food in the city. Lastly, I love ending an evening off at Little Jumbo. They have the best cocktails ever and will pretty much make you anything you want. I swear, I must gain 10lbs every time I go home.

Visit LoJo for some seriously local shopping
Of course, Victoria has malls. But that’s so boring! Why not check out the local shopping scene instead? Lower Johnson—or LoJo—is know as the “epicentre of fashion in Victoria.” It includes one of the “highest concentrations of independent boutiques in Canada” and trust me, they’re fantastic. You can find everything from locally made clothing, handmade jewellery, natural soaps & so much more.

Take a stroll through the inner harbour
It may not be anything massive but it is pretty spectacular. Going for a walk along the ocean in the inner harbour is so therapeutic to me. I miss the ocean so much so whenever I’m near to it, I’m instantly drawn in. There are also so many gorgeous sights & things to do in the harbour: The Empress, boat tours, whale watching, the museum, the parliament buildings.
Make it Special With:
- Soft serve ice cream in the summer
- Tea lattes from—you guessed it—Murchie’s
- Shop some of the local craft stands
I’ll admit, I do miss the West Coast now that I’ve been living in Toronto for almost five years. But I guess that’s what makes it all the more sweet (and romantic) each time I return. Have you been? Let me know your favourite spots to see!
