Fun fact about me: I’m the kind of girl who loves to celebrate. A job promotion? Anniversary? A whole week without carbs? Let’s pop the champagne! (Just kidding—I never go a whole week without carbs. That’s hilarious.) As for my birthday, that’s usually my biggest celebration of the year. And this year I decided to round off my birthday week with a dreamy staycation at Novotel Toronto.
After all, you only turn 27 once! Even if I did think it was a super blah number to begin with, I still ended up celebrating it like there was no tomorrow. I just couldn’t resist. What’s better than grabbing a few girlfriends and heading to a gorgeous suite to dress your best, use your most expensive makeup and cheers the night away? Actually—don’t answer that. There’s nothing better.
My Dreamy & Dazzling Staycation at Novotel Toronto
It was one of the hottest days ever when I lugged my ginormous suitcase to Novotel Toronto. Sometimes I swear it’s harder to pack for a night than an entire week! After all, I wanted to look like my most glam, fierce and fabulous self. Thankfully they just renovated their pool—it looks amazing by the way—which made for an excellent cool down. As did the chilled champagne that was waiting for me in my room. (Confession: the macarons barely lasted until the end of my little photo shoot before I wolfed them down. They were too delicious.)
Once I got settled in, it was time to fully check out my King Suite.
They recently underwent massive—and stunning—renovations in their rooms! My favourite part is probably the cloud wallpaper. How relaxing is it? Along with the ultra-comfortable bed, it felt like going to sleep and waking up in a sweet, sweet dream. The room was intimate, artful and provided just the right amount of space that I needed for my overnight staycation.
Next up, I had to tour the hotel.
My blogger babe Cristina of Shoe Tease was also indulging in a staycation at the hotel. So, naturally we changed into our fabulous frocks from Your Favourite Dresses and toured Novotel Toronto Centre together. We started in the lobby and worked our way all the way back up to the pool. But not before grabbing a drink in the lounge! Also, I ordered a red curry for dinner from the restaurant and it was delicious. I usually only order Thai food from actual Thai places, but I was pleasantly surprised. I’d definitely recommend getting it if you’re up for a little spice!
Not only is the hotel itself charming, it’s also located in one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in Toronto. In my four years living in this city, I’d say I’ve spent the most time in the St Lawrence area. (Well, when I’m not at my place in Little Italy that is.) First, there’s the actual St Lawrence market to check out. Furthermore, there are dozens of restaurants, pubs, boutiques and coffee shops around if you want to explore outside of the hotel. I already know that neighbourhood pretty well though so I was happy to stick around the hotel.
Finally, it was time for the real celebrations to start.
I invited a few friends to come over to enjoy cupcakes, macarons and icy cold prosecco. And, of course to check out the stunning suite. Needless to say, everyone was just as obsessed with the cloud wallpaper as I was! We had a fabulous time snapping pics, laughing our asses off and listening to this totally on fire playlist I made. (Find some of the playlist here if you don’t believe me.) Anyway, as the the evening went on into the early morning and even I got tired of singing along to Jenny From The Block, it was time to call it a night.
Let’s be honest, I really just couldn’t wait to crawl into that luscious king-size bed with my boyfriend.
In the morning, André and I ordered an obscene amount of breakfast. Unfortunately, Novotel Toronto doesn’t offer room service. However, it was easy enough to head downstairs to the restaurant to pick up a few trays of food and bring it back up to our room. They offer both a breakfast menu as well as a buffet—depending on what you’re craving. I think it’s safe to say that we were craving one of everything!
Luckily for us we were able to get a late check-out. Of course, that meant we could spend an extra couple of hours lounging around and finishing our coffees in bed. It was the perfect way to end my 27th birthday celebrations.
Overall, I (and we) had the most marvellous time. Thank you Novotel for helping end my birthday week on the bubbliest note! Book your stay at Novotel Toronto Centre here.
