Believe it or not, I totally get that leopard isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. (Or glass of champagne—whatever you prefer.) Maybe you’re more of a zebra, snake or tiger print person. However, once you see these updated animal prints I think you’ll be an “all of the above” kind of person.
Gone are the days of old fashioned animal prints. Or traditional, you might say. After all, leopard was once worn for strictly classy, evening events. And now we’ve seen dad sneakers, ribbed knit socks and baggy sweatshirts being paired with the sassy spots. I’m sure glamazons of the 50s are rolling their eyes at this thought—but I think it looks pretty millennial chic.
So, whatever ferocious style your fashion taste buds are longing for, these updated animal prints are sure to hit the spot. (No pun intended.)
7 Updated Animal Prints to Wear Now
Krizia
Bored of simple spots? How about rocking an entire leopard instead? I’m sold. Krizia also does really fantastic horse, bird and wolf prints. You know, if you’re feeling extra adventurous.
Zara
As we saw above, the full animal bodies are making a huge appearance this year. For example, this bird print blouse. It’s fresh & fabulous! I bought a similar leopard one last year. See how I’ve previously styled it, here.
Réalisation Par
These are apparently the hottest spots of the season—according to Who What Wear. And I’d have to agree. Plus, pairing it with a zebra top is fucking beautiful.
Diane von Furstenberg
You know what I said before about coloured leopard print looking trashy? Well, I might have to take it back after seeing this DVF dress.
A.L.C.
As if this photo doesn’t say it all. Who wouldn’t want to look this sassy & seriously cool in serpent? You’ve gotta trust the woman responsible for J.Lo’s Versace ensemble at the 2000 Grammy’s.
Roberto Cavalli
We don’t see nearly as much zebra print as I’d like to. The brand describes this one as “iconic prints on easy-chic pieces.” Amen. If you need further mainstream proof that this coat is fab, check out Kim K rocking it.
Topshop
Flirty, feminine, flowy—and snakeskin printed? What a classic. Let’s make this a public fashion announcement: snakeskin is no longer just for creepy guys. There, I said it. It’s here, now and fantastically fresh.
