I’m the first to admit that I love to maintain my mystery. After all, being mysterious is absolutely alluring. Am I wrong? If you’re a reader of The Lady-like Leopard blog or a fan of my social media, you’ll know that I don’t post about myself too often. I’m not one of those girls that takes outfit photos every day or constantly live streams my life. However, after reading some tidbits from other bloggers (who I follow & adore) about themselves on social media, I was inspired to create my own 15 fierce facts.
Putting yourself out there online can be intimidating. But I hope that by giving a more in-depth look at my life & my blog, you guys can feel like you know me a little bit better. Enjoy!
15 Fierce Facts About Me &
The Lady-like Leopard
1. My first tattoo was a quote on the back of my neck that says “full of laughter, full of sorrow”—a quote used to describe my childhood icon (besides Kate Moss) Audrey Hepburn.
2. I’m a dual Australian-Canadian citizen. I grew up on the west coast of Canada and went to university in Sydney. My mom and sister still live there with my puppy and I miss them so much.
3. My top 3 favourite foods are spicy salmon sushi, homemade pesto linguine and green curry—not specifically in that order.
4. My love of magazines started when I was a little kid. I used to cut pics out of the Sears catalogue and make my own magazines! Also, proclaiming at age 6 that I was moving to New York. I’ve yet to make the move to The Big Apple but I try to get there as often as I can.
5. I came up with my blog name The Lady-like Leopard over flutes of champagne at Sydney Fashion Week. It combines my love of being classic & timeless with my need to fiercely follow my passions.
6. I’m half Peruvian (on my mom’s side) but people rarely guess that about me. I’ve been asked if I’m part Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian and Hawaiian, but never Peruvian.
7. I’ve had the same best friend, Jaimie Lewis, for 20 years. Actually, she’s more like family. She also recently released a single called Shade of Blue on Spotify so go take a listen!
8. I’m a massive book worm. I constantly have a book on-the-go—and it’s almost always a book that I’ve taken out from the library. My friends make fun of me but I love the library.

10. My middle name is Maria, after my maternal grandmother. However, last time I was in Peru my cousins told me that her name wasn’t actually Maria so… who knows. I adore my triple M initials nevertheless.
11. When I moved to Toronto, it was the first time I’d ever been here before. I bought a one-way ticket and just moved without having a job, house or friends. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done but totally worth it.
12. I listen to mostly hip-hop and R&B music. I love divas—Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton & Christina Aguilera are all at the top of my list. Also, I listen to He Wasn’t Man Enough at least once a week and never get sick of it.
13. This probably isn’t going to surprise anyone, but I have a leopard print item in almost every category: sneakers, high heels, belts, purses, dresses, t-shirts. Yet, I always need want more.
14. My ultimate idol is Plum Sykes. She writes for Vogue, she’s an author of extremely witty & captivating novels and she just lives a fabulous life—to me anyways.
