Although animal prints might sometimes seem more party girl than working woman, they’re not. Maybe if we’re talking Tom Ford’s latest leopard collection—but there are plenty of other ways to wear animal prints at work. Your Monday morning meetings will never be the same. I promise.
So, what will it be: a side of zebra, tiger or leopard with your triple Americano? If the Fall 2018 runways were anything to go by, we’ll be seeing a healthy dose of all three.
5 Ways to Wear Animal Prints at Work
1. Choose a classic garment in a pared-down leopard
Diane von Furstenberg, queen of the wrap dress, also knows a thing or two about animal prints. Wearing leopard in a classic silhouette like this helps to tone down the boldness of the pattern. Additionally, it’s just a great silhouette to wear at work. Your workweek will never look more stylish.
2. Layer a coat over your look
I am fully obsessed with animal printed coats. I wish I had one in every print. But enough about me! Statement coats are fabulous for layering over anything in your wardrobe. Who cares what’s underneath? It’s all about the outside. Well, when it comes to coats anyways.
3. Sometimes just the cuffs will do!
All over animal prints at work aren’t for everyone. After all, they can sometimes have a trashy reputation—especially when coloured. No doubt, yellow isn’t the easiest colour to pull off either. Yet somehow this vibrant coat by Ermanno Scervino looks classy, chic and totally cozy.
4. Go for something simple, like a statement shoe
With a single statement, you can keep the rest of your look simple. I love wearing a black turtleneck, black jeans and bold boots. Ankle boots with a low heel are a perfect way to wear animal prints at work and stay comfortable. Not to mention, enviably effortless.
5. And if you want to go the extra mile, get a two piece suit
This look isn’t for the faint of heart. I mean, I would wear this literally everywhere—from the grocery store to the bar—but I get how it can be a little much for most. However, it’s still a good investment to have a two-piece matching suit. Even if you don’t wear them together, they’ll pair well with other separates in your wardrobe.
