We all go on vacations or trips hoping to achieve something. Even just a really fabulous time! We might want to enjoy nothing but pure relaxation, we might want to get some creative activity done that we haven’t been able to get done at home. Or, we might want to have the best adventure imaginable. An trip can be anything you want it to be; it can be exploring a big city for the weekend or going to a completely new country for a couple of weeks. But when it comes down to planning adventurous trips, there are a few things you need to know.
From letting go of expectations to making new friends, here’s how you can make your next trip a huge adventure!
5 Tips for Planning Adventurous Trips
Let go of all expectations
If you want to have an awesome adventure, you need to let go of all expectations. Your adventure isn’t going to be anything like what you expect it to be—that’s the amazing thing. Wendy didn’t have expectations for her trip to Neverland. She just went along and had an unforgettable time. For your adventure to be awesome, it needs to be something you never could have dreamed up in a million years.
Learn how to live in the moment
When you learn how to live in the moment, you’ll automatically learn how to go with the flow. Listen to your intuition, and do things that feel right to you in the moment. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t do your research and take prior safety precautions, but you should definitely do things that scare you a bit. Go out for dinner with a group of new friends, or go on a boat trip. Do something you’ve never done before, like snorkeling. Don’t think about things too much, as this is how inspiration dies. Â
Find something you’ve always wanted to do
Find a trip that will incorporate something you’ve always wanted to do. You can visit the Okavango Delta with Safari.com and see all kinds of incredible animals up close that you wouldn’t see any other time. Also, you could go on a trip to the mountains and hike. You could have a completely out there trip! Just get out of your comfort zone a little. Staying in a luxury hotel is great, but it might not always offer you the best adventure!
Go off the beaten path
Don’t go where everybody else has been just because you think you should. Go off the beaten path a little. This doesn’t mean you should wander off into the Australian outback—just that you should look up little known secrets of the places you’re visiting and do some of those things instead.
Meet new people
Sometimes, it’s not where you go and what you do, but who you meet. You an have an adventure just by meeting new people, listening to their stories, and doing new things with them. Again, this doesn’t mean you should trust anybody and everybody you meet. You definitely shouldn’t go off with a person you’ve just met without telling somebody where you’re going (even if it means sending a text back home or leaving a note in your room). But do try to socialize. You could end up with a totally new perspective!
