I’m not someone who really believes in love at first sight. But love at first play? Zepeel, you’ve got me intrigued. I mean, after what seemed like centuries of trying to meet someone organically, I turned to online dating too. Unfortunately, at that time Zepeel wasn’t on the market and now I’m not on it either. (Love you babe.)
Zepeel is the first video dating app to launch in Toronto. And thanks to Shine PR, it was launched in enviable style. There was bottomless champagne, a super cute kissing wall, a gelato guessing game and a balloon ceiling! Yes, you could say it was a cooler than cool party.
But just because I’m locked down, doesn’t mean I couldn’t observe the crowd and do a little match making of my own. Hey, I’m in a relationship, not dead, people. I was pretty proud of telling this guy that my single-and-ready-to-mingle friend needed a “hunk” in a photo I was taking of her. I guess this was pretty much love at first snap, since they ended up exchanging numbers.

So, essentially with Zepeel you can send and receive video messages with other members to meet your new crush. And when you feel comfortable, you can even jump onto a live video chat. Hello, love at first play! I think this is a pretty cool idea, but I’m not sure if it would’ve been for me. I’m a little video shy.
However, it is super beneficial for being able to see someone’s facial expressions, hear their voice and being able to get a real feel for who this person is before meeting them in person. But I also think it could make rejection that much harder. Maybe that’s just me though.
