Hey guys! I know I’ve been away for a while, but I’ve had a really good reason: the Toronto Film Festival 2016. Things have been insane between working seven days a week and then partying (almost) every night at the Toronto International Film Festival’s many, many events.
I couldn’t make it to everything (think I would have just died) but I did manage to pick and choose a few of my favourites to sip, dance and chat the night away at. Here’s a little run down on how my TIFF 2016 celebrations went down.
The Parties, Outfits and Celeb Sightings at TIFF 2016
S/ Magazine + Sharp Magazine TIFF 2016 Festival Gala
WHAT:Â This was the first party of the week. (We were also supposed to hit up the TOM*FW Men of Hollywood party but this one happened to be so poppin’ that we didn’t get a chance to leave.) Â I brought my girlfriends Sheila and Daria with me and met up with our other friends Stephan and Shanel. There were a ton of other people we knew there, which was so nice because since I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t had a chance to catch up with anyone! This was the perfect time to get the 411.
WEAR:Â I brought out my 1st Zimmermann purchase, the strappy little white number. I bought it a couple years ago when I was living in Sydney and went on a weekend trip to Melbourne. What ultimately convinced me to purchase the dress? The girl selling it to me told me that Beyonce had bought the same one. I’ve never seen Beyonce wearing it but… it’s still my favourite. I paired the dress with my brand new cobalt blue velvet Steve Madden ankle boots (bought at the new Nordstrom Eaton Centre) and matched them with my navy THEIT camera bag.
WHO: I swear we saw James Franco, but we went up to talk to him and he said he wasn’t James Franco. Whatever, I’m still convinced.
The Producers Ball + Trespass Against Us After Party
WHAT: My friend Sebastian (the incredible designer behind Atelier Guarin) and I had a big night with two fantastic parties back to back. First up was the Producers Ball hosted by the Property Brothers and organized by NKPR. The food was amazing—think spicy jumbo shrimp, lobster tacos and chocolate on a stick for dessert—and the location was very cool (although not literally because it was smoking hot in there). Next up we went to Michael Fassbender’s after party hosted by Strellson. The dj there was l-i-t and we danced until the early morning hours.
WEAR: I wore my other Zimmermann for this party—again, paired with my velvet ankle boots. Yes, I wore them two days in a row but they’re just that good okay? I kept my accessories to a minimum with my DIY denim choker (and to set the record straight, I made it before Kim wore hers) and a few thin gold chain necklaces.
WHO: At the Producers Ball we had the chance to mingle with Francesco Yates, FeFe Dobson and Missy Peregrym (my favourite from Rookie Blue – had a bit of a fan moment) and at the Strellson party we chatted with Michael Fassbender.
The Toronto Film Festival 2016 Ovation Party
WHAT: This was the first time I actually partied at the TIFF Bell Lightbox! It was a great time with delicious drinks, fabulous company and the best beats to dance to all night long. . The photos we took (below) were from the pre-Ovation party fiesta in celebration of our friend Chris Zownir’s birthday! Chris designs seriously cool mens cufflinks—check ’em out here.
WEAR: I wore my skirt + top set from Bardot Australia. My sister sent it to me for my birthday in June and I had only worn it once when I went out with my BFF in Victoria. It was definitely time to bring out this lacy #ootn again. I wore it with leather ankle boots and accessorized with two DIY chokers.
WHO: I didn’t recognize anyone uber famous there but of course, there were a ton of very cool people to mingle with.
L’oreal Gold Glam Toronto Film Festival 2016 Soiree
WHAT: This was our final hurrah of Toronto Film Festival 2016—and it was a great one. This party was so gorgeous! It was held on the rooftop of the TIFF Lightbox and although it was starting to feel a little chilly, the champagne helped take our minds off that. We danced the night away under the stars and mingled with some of the beauty industry’s best!
WEAR: This was one of my favourite looks from the whole week. I wore a one-of-a-kind dress from Atelier Guarin’s latest collection. I’ve never worn something with a slit that high but I mean, it did make me feel pretty sexy. I kept the look simple with my strappy Tony Bianco heels, a studded wrap belt from Club Monaco and earrings by Michael Hill.
WHO: There weren’t any major movie stars there (or at least not that I recognized) but we did see Stacy McKenzie and many other make-up artists, stylists and emerging actors.
