Toronto Fashion Week Day 1 is always a great one. And a very strong start to the week. In my opinion, it couldn’t have started off stronger than with Mikhael Kale. Kale was one of my favourite shows last season and seeing Gigi Hadid rock one of his outfits on the MMVA red carpet made me anticipate this one even more. Following the first show I took in Matthew Gallagher and Sid Neigum, both amazing collections as well.
But first, let’s take a look at what I wore.
My Toronto Fashion Week Day 1 Look:
leather, fur and knee-high suede
I’ve had this Club Monaco skirt tucked away in the back of my closet since I worked there a couple years ago and hardly ever remember I have it. Once upon a time I deemed it only useful for job interviews and times when looking professional was in order—I often forget to include it in a regular #ootd. I’m glad I was able to pair it with my new favourite Topshop turtleneck and show it off at WMCFW.
Now, for my top looks from day one at
Toronto Fashion Week Day 1.
1. Mikhael Kale
Mikhael Kale had the perfect night-on-the-town looks. I can’t imagine myself wearing head-to-toe Mikhael Kale on the daily, but for a statement, his clothes are the best in the biz. Anyone who knows me knows I love a good statement piece and the white & pink floral coat is just the thing I need to spruce up today’s look of ripped denim and a white tee. (Ps. Mikhael Kale won the Fashion Magazine Award for the best hair during wmcfw!)
2. Matthew Gallagher
The clothes at Matthew Gallagher were anything but boring—textures, structure and icy colours ruled the runway. I loved the sport-luxe feel some of the dresses had (my favourite ones at least) and the combination of structured pants and a modern peplum. Time to get shopping!
3. Sid Neigum
Sid Neigum was one of my favourite shows of the night because of the insane wearability that came along with it. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing an outrageous couture show but to see something I could get some real use out of—well, that makes the money well spent.
